DIPLOMA IN COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH FOR NURSES

Overview

It is a 6-month blended online course for Nurses comprising of approximately 12 hours of self-paced e-learning material and 48 hours of live real-time interactive discussion via video conference.

Completing this course will help you:

Identify and Screen for mental health disorders like Common Mental Disorder, Substance Use Disorders and Severe Mental Disorders.
Decide “best practices” like pharmacological treatment and handle brief psychosocial interventions for mental health issues.
Make decisions about what can be managed by them and what needs to be referred to higher centers.

ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA TO APPLY FOR THE COURSE:

Nurses Qualified with GNM and above, registered with any of the State Nursing Council in India.

Is it recognized?

Yes. Board of Studies (BOS) of NIMHANS, a statutory body and Institute of National Importance, India has approved this course. Not approved by NCI or similar bodies.

MODE OF ADMISSION & COURSE FEE:

Those who meet the eligibility criteria can register and apply online. Only those eligible are enrolled.

CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY TO GET CERTIFICATE

>80% marks in all SIX e-Assignments based on each module
> 80% participation in the fortnight multi-point video-based LIVE interactive multi-point video conference sessions
More than 90 minutes of video presence for each LIVE interactive multi-point videoconference sessions (as measured by software)
Two case presentations LIVE interactive multipoint videoconference sessions
To submit monthly reports of the patients evaluated for Mental health in a prescribed proforma for the next six months of starting the course. Each report to be submitted within the first week of every month of the course
Post-assessment on knowledge and self-efficacy at the end of Six months
